Alan and his family own Prairie View Farms, a 250 cow purebred Angus operation in Gridley Illinois. Prairie View Farms is a leading Angus seedstock producer who not only breed Angus cattle, but market and exhibit cattle across the country. They market heifers, bred cows, and bulls primarily through two production sales, held in October and April each year. In addition, PVF is a satellite center for Transova Genetics and market embryos through internet sales and privately.
Alan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1995 with a degree in Animal Sciences. He went on to earn his M.S. and Ph.D. also from Illinois in Ruminant Nutrition. He worked for 15 years for the University of Illinois Extension running Illinois’ SPA/IRM Program. He is currently in his fifth year on the American Angus Association Board of Directors.
Alan has judged cattle shows across the country, including National Western Stock Show, North American International Livestock Exposition, Fort Worth Stock Show, San Antonio Stock Show, several breed National Junior Heifer Shows, and many state fairs. He was a member of the National Champion 4-H Livestock Judging Team for Illinois, and a member of the University of Illinois Livestock Judging Team.
Alan and his wife Theresa live on the farm in Gridley Illinois and have three children, Amelia, Adam and William.
