Theresa Boian Miller is the co-owner of Prairie View Farms. Since October 2016, she has been at the farm in a full-time capacity. Prior to this, she was an academic advisor at the University of Illinois in the Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) Department, advising a set of 200 students in financial planning, consumer economics and finance, and farm management, coaching the University of Illinois National Agri-Marketing Association team, and serving as the advisor for the Financial Planning Club. She also conducted student recruitment and career education programs for the department, and taught a course on career development in financial planning and consumer economics.
Prior to her role as an advisor, Theresa worked for the University of Illinois College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) as a Media Communications Specialist in International Programs. In her role, she prepared marketing materials such as newsletters and articles, and organized and led the first four classes of the ACES Global Academy Faculty Development Program. She also hosted numerous international visitors to the College of ACES.
She is the author of A History of Agricultural Economics at Illinois: Scholarship and Service (2007). She worked as a communications consultant for three years for First Farm Credit Services, managing their Country Spirit Magazine. From 1998-2004 Theresa served as the communications manager for the Illinois Soybean Association where she directed and managed all producer communication materials, educational programs and media relations. She has also worked as a farm reporter for WDWS radio, Champaign.
Theresa currently serves as a member of the El Paso Gridley School Board, and is a member of the University of Illinois College of ACES Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Theresa holds a BS in agricultural communications and a MS in agricultural education from the University of Illinois. She and her husband Alan have three children, Amelia, Adam and William.
